Rose-shaped petit-fours

I wanted to bake those rose-shaped petit-fours as soon as I came across the recipe on an amazing culinary blog everycakeyoubake. I discovered those specific petit-fours quite a long time ago but I kept forgetting about them, had no time to bake them but finally … here they are! They are really cute and you can even experiment with other ingredients! As you can see, the cookies are elegant, original and they are actually tasty  :) !

Recipe

200 g cold butter
2.5 cups flour (half and half wheat and all-purpose flour)
3 / 4 cup powdered sugar,
3 egg yolks,
pinch of salt
Chop the flour and salt with butter, add powdered sugar and chop it again. Knead the dough and form it in the shape of a ball (to which you can also add 1 or 2 spoons of cold water), wrap it in a foil and finally put it in the fridge for half an hour to cool down.
Wait for the dough to cool down, roll it thinly and cut out petals. I simply used a glass to cut out oval petals but a special form for cutting out petals can be also useful.
Each rose-shaped petit-four will need four petals, which we wrap – one onto each other till we get a roll that we cut in half. In that way we will get 2 petit-fours and we will work faster :)
Open the ends of the petals; if you slightly knead them they will be thinner.
I decorated a part of the petit-flours with cherry jam, they got sweeter :)  It’s also pretty cool when we sprinkle them with powdered sugar.
The petit-flours should be baked for about 15 minutes at 200C, just glance into the oven – the petit-fours are ready if their ends are brown.
